Exploring the Detroit Riverwalk: A Scenic Guide to Waterfront Fun

The Detroit waterfront has changed dramatically over the years and the jewel of this revitalization is the Detroit Riverwalk. This almost 6 km long pedestrian trail is located in downtown Detroit and is a beautiful walkway lined with things to do, places to eat, and various views of the Detroit River. Put on your walking shoes, put on your sunglasses, and let’s hit the road!

When travelling on a budget, make sure to book cheap airport parking.

A Walk (or Bike) with a View

The Riverwalk itself is the centerpiece. This pavement allows pedestrians, cyclers, and even rollerbladers to take a relaxing ride along the trail. While on cruise enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Detroit River. See freights passing, have a view of Canada from across the water or just enjoy the cool sea breeze.

Feeling peckish? Read a book in a cozy coffee shop or have a cup of coffee and croissant from a nearby cafe and sit on a bench, watching the morning.

Book cheap airport parking at Heathrow and save money while travelling.

A Feast for the Senses

The Riverwalk is not only a beautiful walk; it is a place to have some fun and to taste delicious food. For instance, take some time off your walk and enjoy the Rivard Plaza carousel which is sure to turn everyone into a child. For history lovers, there is an opportunity to explore Detroit’s history at Fort Wayne nearby. Feeling peckish? You're in luck!

The Riverwalk is lined by restaurants that serve food ranging from fast foods, pubs to fine dining facilities with river views. Enjoy seafood right on the water, if burgers are more your style or perhaps, you prefer gourmet ice cream?

Mommy & Me and Creative Adventures

All age groups are welcome at the Riverwalk. A favorite attraction among children is the splash pad in Washington Park that will be especially useful on hot summer days. Lively Dequindre Cut – a greenway under the freeway – is the artistic trail with the street art and performance happenings. Weekends are fun as most of the atmosphere features local musicians, street performers, and community events.
